Brown (London, UK / New York, USA) is a designer-researcher dedicated to building power for economic and environmental justice. Until 2019, they worked at the Democracy at Work Institute, affiliated with the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives, where they coordinated the largest municipal initiative to address inequality through worker ownership in the country: the New York City Council-funded Worker Cooperative Business Development Initiative. In their capacity as coordinator, they liaised with agencies, elected officials, and members of the city’s broader cooperative network. Previously, Brown helped launch Best for NYC, a platform that guides local businesses to improve job quality and connects them with resources. A graduate of The New School and postgraduate candidate at the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, Brown has an interdisciplinary educational background bridging design, ecology, and politics.
